As most of you that can already know, there appears to be a black hole that has sucked up all of the canning jars and lids this year. I really hope that everyone that has purchased them is using them and it wasn't a knee jerk reaction to the stock piling that has been going on this year due to COVID-19. My guess is that next year we will see lots of these turning up at yard sales.

We have all had to get creative to overcome this shortage and still be able to preserve our bounties from the garden.

Some of my solutions have been to freeze more things that would have been canned and turn to alternatives to standard US canning jars by using more Weck Jars and ordering some Tattler lids for my existing jars. Although the Tattler lids are on seemingly endless backorder maybe I will get them someday.

My Weck canning has been going well with jams, jellies and the like. However you can only water bath in them so that is a little limiting for some items.
