The Ultimate Cranberry Pecan Baked Brie

Every holiday season needs that one perfect appetizer. The one that’s impressive yet secretly simple, decadent, and a total crowd-pleaser. For us, this Cranberry Pecan Baked Brie is it.

This recipe came about right after I made a batch of homemade Cranberry Jam. My husband loves Brie, and wrapping it in flaky puff pastry with that tart jam and crunchy pecans felt like the perfect festive treat. It immediately became a holiday staple.

Whether you're using homemade or store-bought jam, this recipe is a showstopper. It’s the perfect blend of sweet, savory, creamy, and crunchy. Here’s how you can make it at home.

Cranberry Pecan Baked Brie

Prep time: 10 minutes Cook time: 20-25 minutes Yields: 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 (8 ounce) wheel of Brie cheese
  • 1/4 cup cranberry jam or whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted
  • 1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon of water (for egg wash)
  • Crackers, sliced baguette, or apple slices for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Pastry: Gently unfold your thawed puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface. If the Brie wheel is very thick, you can gently roll the pastry a little thinner to give you more to work with.
  3. Assemble: Place the wheel of Brie in the center of the puff pastry. Spread the cranberry jam evenly over the top of the cheese. Sprinkle the toasted pecans over the jam.
  4. Wrap It Up: Fold the corners of the puff pastry up and over the Brie, pressing the seams together to seal. Trim any excess dough if needed. Gently flip the entire package over so the smooth side is up and place it on your prepared baking sheet.
  5. Finishing Touches: Brush the entire surface of the pastry with the egg wash. This is what gives it that beautiful, golden-brown shine. Use a sharp knife to cut a few small slits in the top of the pastry to allow steam to escape.
  6. Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and a deep golden brown.
  7. Rest and Serve: Let the baked Brie rest for 5-10 minutes before serving. This allows the cheese to set up slightly so it doesn't all spill out at once. Serve warm with your favorite crackers, bread, or apple slices.

Tips for Success

  • Toasting the Pecans: Don't skip this! Toasting the pecans for a few minutes in a dry skillet brings out their flavor and adds a better crunch.
  • Avoid a Leaky Mess: Make sure your pastry seams are well-sealed and that the Brie is cold when you start. This helps prevent the cheese from melting out before the pastry is cooked.
  • Decorative Touch: If you have extra pastry scraps, cut out small shapes like leaves or stars and "glue" them on top with a bit of egg wash before baking.
  • Presentation Style: For a more rustic, open-faced look like the one pictured, you can simply fold the edges of the pastry up and over the sides of the brie, leaving the delicious toppings visible in the center.
